Dental Hygiene for Dogs

Since I'm a dog lover, I wanted to talk about dental hygiene for dogs and created this Screenr video to share. Many pet owners don't realize that professional cleanings and at-home dental care are vital to your dog's health. Periodontal disease is evident in over 85% of dogs over the age of four, so dental care is essential so that your dog can live a long and happy life. Please talk to your veterinarian before you start any type of treatment at home.

  2. This was a great video. I need to be better about brushing my dogs teeth, maybe they wouldn't have such bad breath if I did it. I liked out you did a photo demonstration so we can all know how to do this on our own.

  3. I never brushed any of our dog's teeth, but Hogan had such problems with bad breath. His back molars would become almost a brown color. I take all of our dogs to the vet to have their teeth cleaned once a year, but the they said Hogan needed to have more done at home. The last time he had his teeth cleaned by the vet was in February 2013. I've been brushing his teeth every night since then and they aren't discolored at all. And, his breath no longer smells. I also give them dental chews or Greenies once a day. I'm glad both of you enjoyed the video.

    1. I am very passionate about all my dogs and their health. I never knew the benefits of brushing their teeth until Hogan started having all sorts of problems with bad breath. I hope your brother learns something from this.

  6. yes this video clip was informative and well organized. I did come away with something I did not consider when making my video. The arrangement of the screen itself. Although my screen came out alright and fit into the my blog, I could have arranged the shape of my screen smaller to fit the blog area it is placed in. You sure do know a lot about caring for dogs. Bieich154 please come visit my blog and make a comment about my work, I would be very interested what you would have to say.

  7. WOW!! I never realized how important it was for dogs to have there teeth brushed. When I had a dog as a kid we gave the dental dog treats. I'm curious are those good enough or do you actually have to brush your dogs teeth?

    1. Eric, dental dog treats are very helpful. But to keep the tartar off the teeth and keep them healthy, they need to be brushed!!!
